AFI DigiFest: Signposts to the Digital Future

Attended the superb AFI DigiFest this week to experience a roster of bold, in-progress digital projects. This is emerging media created by teams of collaborators working on tough challenges. Their efforts demonstrate uniquely elastic uses of platforms, screens and distribution and suggest a set of fresh signposts into our digital future.

Still in the building stages, these projects are not yet available online but watch for their releases through their producers and distributors:

An interactive mentoring environment that encourages students from low-income families to learn more about science as a career.

A social network and proposed marketing plan for Interview Project

A proposed online strategy for engaging youth in a series of relevant environmental action challenges for the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation

A mobile application that provides an interactive past-to-future timeline for an ITVS cross-platform micro-series.

A  filmmaker who shot a microseries, Africa Diary, using only a mobile phone. To air on the Sundance Channel next year.

Link us to examples of innovative media you've seen recently.
