Video Wall Alive with Motion
For a look at an innovative blend of new media and techology, make a visit to our own Torrance Art Museum here in SoCal. Yorgo Alexopoulos has mounted "No Feeling is Final," a computer animated high definition video wall that explores transcendental sensibilities through a commanding array of imagery and motion. Projected in a mosaic-like graph of squares on a wall, the 12-minute piece integrates stunning photographs, computer animation and a haunting sound track to create a deeply reflective experience.
Alexopoulos is a New York artist with a background in visual effects and animation. You've seen his work in both feature films and television, but his computer animated videos and digital artworks have been exhibited in galleries for nearly a decade.
Describing his work as a blend of Western and Eastern philosophical themes, he "proposes and constantly reinvents a visual vocabulary influenced by astronomical images, religious iconography, scientific diagrams, and mythological symbolism."
If you can't make it to his exhibit, browse through his extensive website where you'll find short video clips of his work and images from his many media explorations.
