From the Field: Scene-in-Progress, Healthcare, September, 2011
To suggest the way a scene will develop once this documentary is fully shot and edited, we have put together this short scene-in-progress based on the events of March 20, 2010, the day before the Health Care Act was passed. You will remember that a crowd of protestors had gathered outside the Capitol Building, and when Congressman Lewis and some of his colleagues walked into the crowd in order to reach the building, they were met with... well, you'll see.
Incorporating the interviews we shot last spring on Capitol Hill, this 4- minute tape represents a portion of a fuller scene with some interviews, most notably Congressman Lewis's, yet to be shot. But from this sample, you'll get an idea of how we will shape the stories, link them with the Congressman's history and demonstrate, through events such as this one, the challenges of nonviolence.

From the Field: Capitol Hill, June 2011
In June we followed Congressman Lewis as he toured the soon-to-be opened Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial on the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C. His preview of the site included a close up look at the 450-foot inscription wall with quotations from Dr. King's speeches engraved into granite. Nearby he viewed the "Stone of Hope," a 30 foot sculpture of Dr. King.
While in Washington, we covered the Congressman's day-to-day routines on Capitol Hill: the staff meetings, the hikes back and forth to vote on the floor of the house and the weekly excursion to the airport to fly home to Atlanta. In between we conducted interviews with Democratic and Republican members and former members of congress to explore how Lewis has transitioned from an activist to legislator.
