Pen USA’s Literary Awards

Elmore Leonard, Lifetime Achievement Honoree
Pen USA celebrated its 2009 award winners on December 2 and we interviewed many of them, including Lifetime Achievement honoree, Elmore Leonard. Held at the Beverly Hills Hotel, the annual event paid tribute to winners in ten categories and drew an audience of literary luminaries who applauded “the Best Writing in the West.” Among the winners were Steve Lopez, best creative nonfiction for THE SOLOIST, Dustin Lance Black, best screenplay for MILK, Kim Barnes, best fiction for A COUNTRY CALLED HOME, and George Mastras, best teleplay for BREAKING BAD. Award presenters included James Ellroy, author of LA CONFIDENTIAL. In the coming months, our videos will be featured on the Pen website as a dynamic addition designed to attract new members, writers, readers and supporters.
